Shopify Store Audit
by a Retail Architect.
500 physical stores. 1,000+ rollouts. Eastpak, Disney, Levi's — and a Shopify store I've built and run myself since 2019.
Most e-commerce problems start before the store is built — wrong niche, wrong audience, wrong language, wrong market. I diagnose the full picture: from strategy and SEO to design, conversion, and why your visitors don't come back.
The diagnostic framework
Where does your store actually break?
Most consultants look at your store. I look at the system around it. The problem is rarely where you think it is — and fixing the wrong thing wastes money. I diagnose all four stages.
Can people find you at all?
Most Shopify stores rely entirely on paid ads — competing against thousands of others in a bidding war they can't win. I look at your niche, your SEO, your product range, your language strategy, and your target market. If you're not findable without paying for every click, the rest doesn't matter.
- Niche selection and positioning
- Organic SEO audit
- Language and market strategy (EN, NL, FR, DE)
- Product range vs. search demand
Do they click — and stay?
The click happens in Google, in an AI answer, in a ChatGPT recommendation. Getting into those results is one skill. What happens in the next 3 seconds on your page is another. First impression, clarity of offer, visual hierarchy, loading speed — all of it either pulls them in or pushes them away. I work on both: getting the click, and keeping it.
- Google organic and AI search visibility (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini)
- Homepage and landing page first impression
- Clarity of offer — do they immediately understand what you sell?
- Mobile experience — separate review, not an afterthought
- Design, fonts, colours and brand trust signals
Do they actually convert?
This is where most audits stop. I go deeper. Product page persuasion, pricing signals, trust indicators, checkout friction — every step between "I'm interested" and "order confirmed" is a potential exit point. I find every one of them and rank them by revenue impact.
- Product page persuasion and copy
- Pricing and value perception
- Trust signals — reviews, guarantees, returns
- Checkout friction analysis
Do they ever return?
A customer who buys once and never comes back is a cost, not an asset. Retention is where profitable stores are built. Email strategy, repeat purchase triggers, loyalty mechanics, post-purchase experience — most Shopify stores have almost nothing here. This is often the biggest untapped revenue in the whole business.
- Post-purchase experience
- Email and retention strategy
- Repeat purchase triggers
- Customer lifetime value thinking

Who is this
J.P. Bobbaers
"I spent 40 years building retail experiences across Europe and Asia. Then I built my own Shopify store — and learned everything they don't teach you in agency work."
My background is in physical retail — store design, consumer psychology, brand positioning. 500+ stores built. 30+ global brand concepts. Eastpak in Tokyo. Disney across Europe. Houbii in Jakarta.
In 2019 I built Bromptonic — a Shopify store selling Brompton bicycle accessories — from scratch. No agency. No shortcuts. I know what it's like to watch your analytics and wonder where the sales went.
That's what I bring to your audit: not theory, not templates — direct experience from someone who runs the same kind of store you do.
