A Facade Design Guidelines Manual for Exellent
A Belgian chain of two hundred and sixty independent retailers, Exellent retails TV, audio, video, small electrical appliances, telecom, and multimedia products. The Exellent management decided they needed a new uniform image for their outlets ensuring a stronger national brand image. IMAGINIF became involved and designed new front signage and developed their facade design guidelines manual.

The design guidelines manual for Exellent was produced to serve as a guide for the signage suppliers of the independent retailers.
IMAGINIF made drawings, and next a guidelines manual.
The manual ensured that each signage in all of Exellent’s stores would be consistently delivered and implemented in every store (despite using different suppliers).
IMAGINIF created a 20-page manual that explained how each piece of signage in Exellent stores would look and function. IMAGINIF made over eighty visual simulations of each dealer facade incorporating the new design. The guideline book contained technical drawings as guidance for the suppliers ensuring the different suppliers were able to construct identical signage and helping to convince each dealer to buy into the new uniform look.
Results & Impact of the Facade Guidelines Manual
All the different suppliers adopted the new look for the stores. For the first time, all the storefronts of these independent retailers looked the same. Excellent was thus able to achieve its objective of raising and reinforcing brand awareness, gaining an overall advantage over the competition.
