Illustrative PANTRY AND CO in-store communication plan

Help customers understand the offer

Visual merchandising connects the product range to the way people shop. A display can inspire a use, help compare alternatives or make a complete solution easier to find. Start with the customer task and available products. An attractive arrangement that hides prices, creates confusion or cannot be replenished may work poorly in practice.

Group products with a reason

Alternatives should be easy to compare on the attributes that matter. Complementary products can be grouped around a relevant activity or occasion. Avoid treating every category as an opportunity to add more products or signs. Check what shoppers are trying to accomplish, whether the featured items are available and how staff will keep the presentation useful.

Separate navigation, explanation and promotion

Wayfinding helps people locate a destination. Product information helps them understand or compare. A promotional message explains a confirmed offer and its conditions. These jobs need different positions and levels of detail. Use clear category names, consistent cues and readable contrast, placing the information where the relevant decision happens.

Build an in-store communication plan

List each location, the decision the customer faces, the intended message and a suitable format. An entrance can communicate the visit promise; a junction can identify categories; a display can explain a use; a shelf label can support price comparison. Lucan can help draft this working plan and explore associated signs or poster concepts. Confirm names, prices, dates and claims before artwork is produced.

Improve one thing and observe what happens

Try a focused change using existing fixtures where practical. Observe whether people find the category, understand the message or need less clarification. Where reliable trading data exists, compare suitable periods and consider stock availability, promotions and other changes. A photo can reveal visible design problems; it cannot prove why sales changed or guarantee an uplift.
